Laurie Jones – Musical Director

Laurie Jones is a highly respected Musical Director, conductor, and educator, known for his dynamic leadership and passion for choral music. As founder and Musical Director of the award-winning Malmesbury Choir, Laurie has built a reputation for musical excellence and inspiring performances. Alongside this, he is proud to serve as Musical Director of the City of Bath Male Choir and the Norland College Choir, continuing to shape vibrant and engaging choral communities.

The Malmesbury Choir was established when Laurie was invited to form a new mixed-voice ensemble in the town. Under his direction, the choir has flourished over the past 13 years, earning numerous accolades for its outstanding performances, including trophies at the Mid-Somerset, Swindon, and Wootton Bassett Music Festivals.

With more than 20 years of experience as a professional musician and conductor, Laurie holds degrees in both percussion and classical singing. His career has spanned performance, teaching, and leadership, including appearances at many of the UK’s most prestigious venues such as London’s West End. He is currently Director of Music at Westonbirt School, as well as Musical Director of the City of Bath Male Choir and the Norland College Choir. Outside of his professional work, Laurie is a devoted husband and father to two children, Maisie and Freddie, loved his cricket a passionate Aston Villa supporter.
